New NAUTH CMD embarks on courtesy visit to Igwe Nnewi, Igwe Oraifite, others

The newly appointed acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State, Dr Joseph Ugboaja on Tuesday embarked on a courtesy visit to the Nnewi traditional ruler, Igwe Dr KON Orizu 111 and his Oraifite counterpart, Igwe Dan Udoji.

Recall that Dr Joseph Ugboaja, who was until Monday the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) took over from Prof Anthony Igwegbe.

The new CMD also extended his visit to the Obi Uruagu-Nnewi, Obi Afam Obi, Obi Umudim-Nnewi, Obi Bennett Okafor, Obi Nnewichi-Nnewi, Obi Bennett Okafor (Amukwu) and Obi of Irefi in Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Obi Sunday Enekuizu.

The CMD in his remark in all the palaces of the royal fathers thanked the monarchs for the roles they individually and collectively played in his emergence as the acting CMD of NAUTH.

Dr Ugboaja also used the occasion of the visit to solicit for support for his administration to make the health institution one of the best five of such hospitals in Nigeria.

He harped on the need for the royal fathers to help mobilize their affluent subjects home and abroad to come and join the movement to make NAUTH great.

Dr Ugboaja noted that the Public Private Partnership initiative is a win-win situation for the hospital and the investors and as such affluent persons should take advantage of the initiative to invest in NAUTH.

“We are not unmindful of our responsibilities to the host communities in the area of employment and other benefits, we are set to correct the errors of the past in this regard. But the most important thing for now is for all of us to join hands together to make NAUTH an institution where people will come from all over the world for medical treatment.” He said.

Dr Ugboaja noted that he is passionately committed to fully moving the health institution to her permanent site even as he pointed out that three Nnewi people are already putting up structures at the the permanent site of the hospital.

He emphatically said that the allocation from Abuja cannot be enough for full infrastructural development of NAUTH.

The response of the royal fathers were almost the same as they all expressed their unflinching believe that the new kid on the block is capable of moving the hospital to greater heights.

They urged him to carry the host communities along so that they can know where and when to come in to assist.

The monarchs enjoined the staff and management of the health institution to cooperate with their new CMD noting that his successes in office should also be seen as theirs.

The Minority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Onyebuchi Offor who represents Ekwusigo Local Government Area in Assembly congratulated the acting CMD on his elevation.

Hon Offor who played host to the acting CMD and his team expressed absolute confidence in Dr Joseph Ugboaja’s ability to comprehensively transform NAUTH to an enviable height in the the comity of such health institutions.

The management staff of NAUTH, chairman CEO Orizu Motors, Prince Chiedu Orizu and other eminent personalities accompanied the new CMD on his thank you visit.
