NANS Commends Ugwuanyi’s Giant Strides In Education Sector

National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Enugu state chapter has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for transforming the state’s education sector.

The student body made this commendation after a statewide evaluation tour of infrastructural projects carried out in various schools across the state.

In a statement jointly signed by the Deputy Coordinator, NANS Zone B, Comr. Ugwuegbe Darlington and NANS JCC Chairman, Comr. Romanus Ogene, the group said the evaluation exercise was designed to ascertain the extent of work so far done by the Government of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi through ENSUBEB from 2015 till date.

Part of the statement reads: “The leadership of NANS Enugu is moved to specially commend the efforts and commitment of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to the education of the people of Enugu state for Education remains the pillars of every civilised society.

“We are earnestly hopeful that this educational transformation will certainly go round, therefore we wish to seize this opportunity to also encourage His Excellency not to relent in his good works in the educational sector.

“We have painstakingly, through our very resilient team of student leaders traversed the lengths and breadths of Enugu state to every single primary school in the state ensuring detailed assessment, evaluation and subsequent data reportage while employing an organised system of documentation and representation of true facts on ground.

“The NANS evaluation team was made up of over a hundred (100) students’ leaders strategically spread across the 17 local government areas with the driving mandate to tour and evaluate all primary schools within each LG.

“It is on record that there are a total number of 1,485 primary schools in Enugu state spread across 17 Local Governments. After collation of data from the 17 local governments in Enugu state, it has been ascertained that our team visited and evaluated 1,481 primary schools.

“Out of the total number of schools evaluated, we noticed that 403 were in good condition and needed not the intervention of the current administration. The administration of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi through the Enugu State Universal Basic Education has intervened in, (constructed, renovated and furnished) 788 primary schools out of 1078 schools in bad condition.

“From our findings, it becomes safe to say that the Government of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi through ENSUBEB has equitably marshalled state resources to uphold the demands of the SDG 4 by a rating of 73 per cent”.
