Over 50 deaths have been recorded as result of the strange disease that is currently ravaging Ette Uno and Umuopu communities of Enugu Ezike in Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu state.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was quick to respond by sending medical experts from the state Ministry of Health to arrest the situation.
Also, the Speaker of the State Assembly Rt. Hon Edward Ubosi in a press statement raised the alarm over the ravaging effect of the epidemic.
Ubosi who commended the quick response by the state governor called on the federal government to send a team to assist in the disturbing development and avoid it’s spread.
However, it was gathered that the community itself are on their own seeking for traditional solutions suggesting that the gods of the land may have been provoked.
Our source say the local people are basing their claims on the fact that mostly young people are affected by the disease.
They are thus reportedly consulting oracles and seers to find out if the gods of the land could be appeased.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been issued by the Ministry of Health on the possible cause of the mysterious deaths being recorded.
