Encomiums and accolades have continue to greet the efforts of the Ondo State First Lady, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu aimed at alleviating the sufferings of her people in Imo State.
Mrs Akeredolu in an unusual gesture of giving back to her home state has attracted the construction of eighteen kilometer to Imo State from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) which would be flagged off on July 25.
The eighteen kilometer road that would be contructed by NDDC in Imo State through the intervention of Mrs Akeredolu runs from Eziobodo-Emeabim in Owerri West Local Government Area of the State.
The road according to the people of the area has been abandoned and remained inaccessible from time immemorial.
The indigenes and residents of Eziobodo and Eneabiam who have been passing through harrowing experiences due to the deplorable condition of the road are full of praises for the Ondo State First Lady for not forgetting her home state.
“The beauty of this intervention project is that the people of Okolochi which is another major community in that axis would heave a sigh of relief given that a better alternative to access Ihiagwa through Eziobodo route will be provided for them.
“It is important to note that Eziobodo and Eneabiam communities are reputed for high demography particularly Eneabiam which plays host to campaign trains of politicians visiting to solicit support and votes during electioneering campaigns with the attendant unfulfilled promises to build the only road which connect Eneabiam to Ihiagwa and other parts of the state.
“We salute the exceptional courage and kind heartedness of a worthy ambassador in the person of Her Excellency, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for attracting NDDC to this important but abandoned road.” A public affairs analyst, Pastor Iyke Onuoha pointed out.
The public affairs analyst, Pastor Onuoha stated that the road when completed will alleviate the sufferings of the people of the benefitting communities who are majorly agrarian in economic and occupational definition.
Another respondent, Chief Chima Onukwube said that the deplorable state of Eziobodo-Emeabim road has reduced the route to enclave of the men of the underworld where all manners of criminality are perpetrated.
He likened the Ondo State First Lady, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu to the biblical Esther who rose to the help of her people when all hopes were lost.
“We must commend and applaud Mrs Akeredolu for not turning her back on her people after getting to a position where she can help us. By this singular act, she has written her name in marble in the sand of time.” Chief Onukwube stressed.
Our reporter who is already in Imo State for the flag off ceremony of Eziobodo-Emeabim road construction said that the benefitting communities have been thrown into festive mood and are eager to be part of the historic moment.
