Millennium College of Nursing Sciences’ Provost setting records for nursing education

Provost of Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka, Mrs. Chisom Ezulike, is setting an unparalleled record with her visionary leadership that has championed excellence and innovation in nursing education.

Ezulike’s leadership approach and dedication to academic excellence is setting a new standard for nursing education at Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka.

Her passion for advancing the field of nursing and providing students with the skills they need to succeed is truly making a difference at the Millennium College of Nursing Sciences. Also, her commitment to excellence is evident in the college’s rapid growth, impressive placement rates, and exceptional student outcomes.

June 2024 would make it two years since her faith-based institution was established by the Anglican Diocese of Awka, Anambra State, and was appointed to pilot the affairs of the college.

The astute administrator, before her emergence, has been certified in so many areas including nursing and midwifery. Her strong background in nursing education and a proven track record of leadership may have been the reason the Anglican authority deemed her fit for the position.

Not deterred by the huge expectation, the provost was poised to champion excellence at the college. Within months, the college achieved a remarkable feat – a 100% pass rate that surpassed all expectations in record time, this was in addition to the huge facility and other enablements that paved the way for smooth accreditations of the institution.

Through a harmonious blend of cutting-edge curriculum, expert guidance, and unwavering student support, Millennium College has transformed dreams into reality for aspiring nurses, turned aspirations into distinctions, and set a new benchmark for success.

Listing her achievements within two years in office, Mrs. Ezulike stated that the college now has well-equipped demonstration halls with simulators, models, and skilled nurse educators.

She also said the institution now has well-equipped lecture halls, ICT halls with modern gadgets, well-equipped demonstration halls, enough structures for lectures and administration, as well as two coastal buses and qualified lecturers of adequate ratio.

“This enabled the college to obtain 100% in their Mid-introductory examination, and also in their first semester year one examination.

“The college is the first college in the Eastern region to write their entrance examination and Preliminary Training Session (PTS) using Computer Based Training (CBT) method for evaluation.

“This made the college get the commendation of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) that the college has set the pace for the CBT method of evaluation in the Eastern Region.”

Ezulike disclosed that students of the college are now rated over their counterparts in other nursing colleges because of their exposure to modern trends in nursing and midwifery.

She also attributed the clinical posting of students to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, and Community Experience at various Health Centres in Awka South LGA to the feat achieved by the institution in the very short period it has existed.

The above feat led to a higher demand from prospective students who intend to join the college. The college has to request from the NMCN for resource verification for the Nursing Department and full accreditation for Midwifery Department. This happened last year December, 2023.

“To the glory of God, the college scaled through and had their quota increased for Nursing Department from 75 to 120 and 100 for Midwifery Department. To the Glory of God, all this happened less than two years of the establishment of the college, she said.”

The Provost, Mrs Chisom Ezulike is grateful to the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, and Bishop Awka Diocese, Anglican Communion,  Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD, JP for his vision in establishing the Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka.
