Militants may target attacks on foreign embassies, others in the eve of Diwali

A heavy bomb explosion occurred across Indian capital Delhi 16 years ago on the eve of Diwali. One after another, people were killed in explosions in markets, buses and streets.

The Daily Vendor Newspaper learnt that the Indian Mujahideen and Huji were behind that attack.

Attempts to target the festival of lights have been made more than once. The goal is to spread communal unrest.

Militant groups backed by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI have planned militant attacks in various Indian cities to tarnish the Diwali festivities.

Diwali is the festival of lights which signifies the victory of good over evil and the eradication of dark shadows, negativity, and doubts from our lives. It is a celebration of prosperity in which people give gifts to their loved ones and it is celebrated all over India.

Similarly, alerts have been issued across the country. Initially, a few days ago, the intelligence message came that 48 railway stations in one Indian state Uttar Pradesh had been targeted. There are cities like Allahabad to Lucknow, from Bareilly to Gorakhpur, those railway stations have been wrapped in safety blankets for that reason.

But not just Uttar Pradesh, any major city in the country is believed to be the target of the attack. That is why every state in the country has been alerted on the eve of Diwali.

The police and army in another Indian state Jammu and Kashmir have learned that there is a possibility of infiltration into the state, even beyond another Indian state Punjab border.

Pathankot and Gurudaspur have therefore been given special security in the border villages. In addition to plotting to blow up busy market complexes, railway stations and moving trains, foreign embassies have also been targeted.

The news reached the Central Intelligence Agency that the special target could be the Israel.

However, any foreign embassy could be attacked to attract international attention. It is not just embassies; it can also be consulate offices in different states. That is why both the Centre, and the state have taken precaution. Since the third week of last month, Assam, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra police have received one acre of intelligence input after another. The main theme of each report was the table of attacks during the festive season.

Police in Jammu and Kashmir recently raided three districts and arrested five suspects, interrogating them and finding out that local youths were being trained through several local organizations.

The youths were told to cross the border and be sent to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Then the special expedition will come back. After receiving the intelligence message, the railways have been asked to double the surveillance as well as the luggage test system at the entrance and exit of the station.  Officials have been meeting with the Union Home Ministry and Delhi Police for several days to discuss security. Police have received this report that explosives may have been supplied in small gift packets.
