Man stabs, sets mother, self ablaze in Imo over altercation [Photos]

The police in Imo State said its operatives have rescued one Mrs Pauline Ejiogu and her son who reportedly stabbed her and set the house ablaze with both of them inside.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sp Ikeokwu Orlando, while addressing newsmen on Friday said, “One Mr. Johnbosco Ejiogu from Umudagu Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state, stabbed and set both himself and his mother, Mrs. Pauline Ejiogu ablaze, because of an altercation.”

Continuing, Ikeokwu said “if not for the timely intervention of the police, both of them would have burned to death.”

He told THE DAILY VENDOR correspondent that, on the 24th of April 2020, operatives of Mbieri Divisional headquarters while responding to a distress call, arrested the suspect (Johnbosco Ejiogu) and rescued the victim who happens to be his mother.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect stabbed his mother as a result of an altercation, adding that, he went further to lock the door behind himself and his mother, then set the house ablaze, but they were rescued alive sequel to the swift response of the officers and men of the Division, and also some members of the community

Ikeokwu confirmed to our correspondent that both of them have been taken to a hospital for treatment, while investigations has commenced.
