Man crossing highway narrowly escapes death after being knocked down by Bus in Anambra

A shuttle bus driver, Alex Ifedianya on Monday knocked down a middle aged man along Onitsha-Awka expressway, Anambra state.

The incident which occurred opposite FRSC Command, Nteje, the bus with nine persons on board.

An eye witness said the victim was attempting to cross the road when he was knocked down by the vehicle.

The Sector Public Education Officer,
Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo, confirmed the incident saying the victim was rushed to a hospital in Awkuzu fory immediate medical attention by the FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command.

He said the vehicle and the case was handed over to the Police at the Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation.

He said, “At about 10am today Monday 15 June, 2020, a middle aged man trying to cross the expressway opposite FRSC Command at Nteje, along Nteje-Awka expressway, was knocked down by a Shuttle Bus with enlistment number AGU241ZW driven by one Alex Ifedianya. A total of Nine persons (7 make adults and 2 female adults) were involved in the crash.

“The victim who sustained some degree of injury was rushed to Chira Hospital Awkuzu, for immediate medical attention by the FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command. The vehicle and the case was handed over to the Police at the Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, *CC Andrew A. Kumapayi* admonishes road users to be safety conscious while using the road. Drivers are also advised to always drive defensively, to avoid unnecessary road mishaps.”
