Magu: Buhari Suspends All Top EFCC Officials

President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended over 10 senior officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, according to PM News.

Presidency source was quoted by PM News on Tuesday night as saying that the Commission’s executive Secretary Olanipekun Olukoyede was among the senior officials suspended by the President.

“They were suspended for various alleged criminal and corrupt infractions,” the source said.

Their suspension follows efforts by the Presidency to pave way for unhindered investigation of the various corruption allegations hanging on the anti-graft commission.

The source said “All the top officials in the agency have been suspended, their offices locked, to prevent any tampering with files at the commission.”

It will be recalled that Acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, was suspended by President Buhari last week, and Mohammed Umar Abba, formerly the agency’s Director of Operations, was appointed to take charge.

According to the source, the new acting Chairman escaped suspension because he was discovered not to be involved in the alleged fraudulent acts in the commission.
