LGSC Board visits Ihiala LGA headquarters

…LGSC boss says the familiarization tour is in line with Gov Soludo’s directive to restore State Local Government System to her lost glory

In continuation of the on going familiarization tour of the  council areas in the state, the board members of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission(LGSC) Awka, visited Ihiala LGA headquarters.

The major purposely of the pathfinding visit was work out ways to restore the lost glory of council areas across the state.

The visit was also aimed at ascertaining the challenges facing the council which are hampering productivity and effective Service delivery.

The chairman of LGSC, Barr. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka while addressing the workers said as a matter of fact that the familiarization tour is in line with Gov Chukwuma  Soludo’s directive to the commission to restore Anambra State Local Government System to her lost glory.

He said that the directive was meant to ensure sustainable development at the grassroot.

Barr. Ezeaka stated emphatically that the present board of the commission was inaugurated on the 19th of October to transform, revive and bring back discipline in the Unified Local Government System and it’s already lost glory.

The LGSC boss urged council workers to eschew all forms of absenteeism, truancy, lateness to work, act of condoning Staff who are supposed to retire from service as well as inclusion of deceased staff on the payroll system of the council, adding that these causes low productivity and affect the overall wage bills of the council.

He revealed the preparedness of the commission to introduce Biometric Electronic Monitoring Machine in the Local Government System to monitor workers attendance to work,  stating also that workers salaries will soon be paid based on the number of times they come to work.

Barr Ezeaka warned that due process must always be strictly adhered to by the council staff while discharging their duties , adding that all financial irregularities practice in the Local Government System be stopped immediately while disciplinary actions would be taken against defaulters.

He assured that best performing workers would be rewarded to boost moral of the staff and in the process increase productivity.

In his own speech, Member 1 of the LGSC, Hon. Azubuike Okoye called on the council workers to live up to expectation.

Hon. Azubuike, who emphasized the need to shun conflicts in the council urged the Heads of Departments(HODs) to embrace the ongoing reforms in the system and cooperate with the commission to achieve her set objectives to move Anambra State Local Government System to greater height.

In his welcome address, the Transition Committee(TC) Chairman Ihiala LGA,  Hon. Kingsley Obi commended the new board members of the commission for their efforts towards repositioning Anambra State Local Government System through its policies and activities.

He urged workers to be more disciplined, productive and dedicated to their duties for efficiency and effective system.

The Ihiala TC chairman promised to cooperate and assist in any way possible to make the system work better.

The  Chairman Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ihiala Local Government Area pledged that workers will continue to support the commission’s set objectives by working harmoniously with the council management, improve attendance to work, abide by the established directives and policies provided that the schedule of duties taken by the State Government be brought back together with improved workers welfare as promised by the board.
