Labour Party Convention: Journalists Barred from Entering Venue

…fears high for opponents, their apologists

The ongoing National Convention of the Labour Party (LP) holding at the Grand Seasons Hotel, Nnewi Anambra state has witnessed a disturbing trend with the barring broad spectrum of the media from entering the venue.  

The move, observers pointed out was unbecoming and inexplicable as their National Publicity Secretary, one Obiorah Ifoh had gone inside early morning. Series of calls and messages were sent to him urging him to approach the front desk with the necessary tags with him but for more than three and half hours he didn’t show up.  

However, no fewer than five hoodlums said to be distributing inciting leaflets critical of the party leadership we’re arrested and whisked to the police headquarters. 

The youngmen  who were accused of trying to cause distress to the ongoing convention have been moved out of the venue. 

A party source say the intention of the boys and their sponsors was to destabilize the convention. 

LP has been experiencing crisis following party leadership tussle over who becomes the national chairman of the party, a move many political watchers see as discouraging.

A source said the leaders we’re managing every information currently.
