Kyari’s Burial: Prosecute SGF, other officials who violated safety rules, PDP tells FCT

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the apology by the Chairman ofthe Presidential Task Force on COVID19 pandemic, Boss Mustapha as an afterthought which is unacceptable.

THE DAILY VENDOR reports that Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha and many other government officials attended the burial of late Abba Kyari in total violation of the government’s safety and social physical gathering order handed out by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Following the violation, the PDP yesterday asked the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) authorities to immediately prosecute the SGF, Boss Mustapha and other government officials who flouted safety rules at the burial of the late Abba Kyari in Abuja.

It noted that apology of Mustapha, who is the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 pandemic for violating safety and social restriction directives by certain government officials during Kyari’s funeral was unacceptable.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, it noted that the apology came after widespread condemnation of government officials and other individuals’ conduct at the funeral, insisting that they should be sanctioned in line with its actions against ordinary Nigerians who had flouted the safety and social restriction orders.

Other Nigerians have also reacted to the actions of the government officials. They took to social media to call out the government to sanction the officials like it did to other ordinary Nigerians who absent mindedly violated the directives and were arrested, convicted and sentenced to community service. Some users were captured asking the government to practice what it preaches.
