A commercial motorcyclist on Tuesday lost his life in a fatal accident along Nibo- Onitsha old road, Nibo, Anambra state.
The accident which occurred around 8.50am involved a white Toyota Hiace bus and a yellow tricycle.
The commercial bus reportedly on a high speed was said to have lost control and knocked down the tricyclist before crashing into the drainage.
Confirming the incident, Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Kamal Musa said the corpse has been deposited at the Morgue.
He said, “At about 0850hrs, a Fatal road traffic crash involving a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number NSH 86 YJ and a yellow tricycle with out a registration number allegedly caused by excessive speeding leading to loss of control of the bus and crashing into the drain this morning 29th September, 2020 at opposite St. Joseph Catholic Parish Nibo, along Nibo- Onitsha old road.
“Information reaching the Command states that a total of Eleven (11) people ( 6) male adults and (5) female adults were involved.
“One (1) male adult who sustained injury was taken to Prime hospital and the corpse deposited at the Mogue before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from the Sector Command who are on ground to ensure free flow of traffic as obstruction is being cleared.
“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew Kumapayi sends his condolences to the deceased family and wishes the injured victim quick recovery.
“He advises motorists to desist from excessive speeding and stick to the speed limits stipulated by law as road traffic Crashes are avoidable.
