…Jirga members said it took a year to convince the parties to end the enmity
PESHAWAR: Thirty-five years old enmity that had claimed several lives between two families in Landikotal changed into friendship on Tuesday.
The families of Malik Nadir Khan Mirdadkhel and Haji Arabistan Mirdadkhel village in Landikotal had three decads long enmity. It had claimed four lives and more than ten injured from both sides.
Jirja Mashran Haji Yarbab Afridi and Haji Sadaqat Shinwari along with other jirga members converted the enmity into friendship. The jirga member said it took a year to convince the parties for peace.
Speaking on the occasion former federal minister Dr,Noorul Haq Qadri said that it was a pride moment for all of us to have two blood enemies turned to friendship. He said four persons had lost their lives while more than ten others injured in the past 35 years long enemity.
He praised the jirga members’ efforts who fulfilled a tough task.
“I appreciate the Jirga mashar Yarbab Afridi and his other jirga members for their efforts who brought peace not only to the families but to the whole Landikotal”, said Noorulhaq Qadri. He said Allah always with whom who sincerely wanted to shun difference between two persons and bring peace among rivals. He said though the political and administrative system had been changed but still tribal jirga play its importent role.
District Police Officer(DPO)Khyber Muhammad Imran said if the jirga failed to end the years long enmity could result in lose of more lives. He said they would extend their moral support to the jirga who work to resolve issues and bring peace in the area. He said the peace accord nit only brought peace among the two families but it also spared time and money of government.
Ex-minister Malik Waris Khan,Malik Darya Khan, Malik Abdur Razaq, SHO Landikotal Akbar Afridi, addtional SHO Zeenat Khan Afridi,addtional SHO Fazal Rehman Afridi also attended the peace accord event.
