Journalists condemn attack on Senator Ubah, commiserate with bereaved families

The National Link Chapel of the Anambra State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ) has condemned the recent assassination attempt on the senator representing Anambra South in the red chamber of the National Assembly, Sen  Ifeanyi Ubah.

The media practitioners expressed dissatisfaction over the high level of  insecurity in the state, describing it as an unfortunate situation.

In a communique at the end of their monthly meeting signed by the chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Tempest Udeze noted, “Sunday’s attack on Sen Ubah is unacceptable and it’s the responsibility of every government to protect  lives and property of the common masses. Anything short of that is unacceptable”.

The group while commending the efforts of Anambra State Governor toward fighting insecurity to a standstill in the state urged him to step up the tempo so that make the state more secure.

Recall that unknown assailants  ambushed the senator’s convoy at Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoja Local Goverment Area of the state, spent a whole lot of time carrying out their evil mission yet remain unapprehended.

“High rate of insecurity in Anambra State is worrisome, no meaningful development can take place in an environment devoid of relative peace and security, we encourage the governor in his efforts to build habitable and prosperous Anambra to double his efforts on security of lives and properties.

“We equally thank God for the safety of Sen Ubah and as well regret the loss of lives of his personal and security aides, we extend our condolences to the families of the deceased.” The communique added.
