Despite being vaccinated against coronavirus, British citizens will have to be in a mandatory quarantine when they come to India. In addition, a total of three corona tests have to be done within eight days of arriving in India before catching the flight.
Such guidelines were issued by the Center on Friday. The Boris Johnson government has introduced the same rules for Indians in Britain. Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Sringla also termed the decision as discriminatory and colonialist.
At the same time, he warned of retaliation if the decision was not reversed quickly. But since the Boris government did not back down, India also imposed counter-compulsory quarantine guidelines on British citizens.
The Center has said that from October 4, any British citizen coming to India will have to stay in quarantine for 10 days. In addition, RTPCR should be tested 72 hours before boarding, after landing at the airport in India and within eight days of arrival in India.
Last month, Britain issued travel guidelines for foreign travelers. Citizens of the United States, Israel, and Australia were exempted from quarantine if they received two doses of the vaccine. However, a number of countries like India were not included in that exemption list. It creates intense anger. In addition, there is dissatisfaction with Britain’s vaccination policy. Because, in Britain, those who have been vaccinated against AstraZeneca have been recognized by the government of that country.
However, if the Indians take the Indian version of the same company Covishield, it is not being recognized. Ordinary people are facing problems due to this decision.
According to the concerned quarters, this duplicity has no meaning. The same vaccine cannot be a different rule for two countries.
