Imo Police parade soldier, others for abduction, murder of undergraduate

The Imo State Police Command has paraded twenty-eight (28) criminal suspects for varrious crimes ranging from, kidnapping, murder, Armed robbery and other crimes, among those paraded were, some dismissed soldiers, Godson Chimazie, Emmanuel Amadi, others are, Innoson Udeze, Eze Simon and L/cpl Ifeanyi Nwaiwu, for killing one Leo Micah Isiah, an undergraduate of the Federal University Of Technology Owerri (FUTO).

Briefing journalist at state police command Thursday, the Imo commissioner of police, Cp Isaac Akinmyede, said, “the command under my watch will not condone any act of corruption either at the Police Station/Offices, check points or highways”.

Even as he enjoined all motorists to desist from giving money to policemen on the road, “members of the public are also advised to report such infractions for necessary action,” he said.
                    
According to Cp Akinmyede, on the 10th of May 2020 at about 1540hrs at Udi in Enugu State, SARS operatives arrested four kidnappers; they are, Godson Chimezie 28 years old from Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State, Emmanuel Amadi 28 years old from Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, Innoson Udeze 45 years old and Eze Simon 23 years old, both from Nsude Udi LGA of Enugu State; including L/cpl Ifeanyi Nwaiwu of Ogwa in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, a serving member of the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineer (NASMEN) Makurdi.

He further disclosed, They were arrested on the 2nd of May 2020 at Willow Wood Hotel, Owerri, in connection with the kidnapping/murder of one Leo Micah Isiah, who lived at Akwakwuma in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

Adding, “Their victim’s Ash coloured Lexus car Model RX350 with Reg. No. AKL 785 AG was taken away.

Pointing out that, through painstaking/discreet investigation, the suspects were rounded up. Upon interrogation, they confessed to the crime and led operatives to where the decomposing corpse of their victim was recovered.

The Imo police boss , further informed that, the corpse has been deposited at Federal Medical Centre Owerri (FMC) morgue. Adding that, two of the suspects who wore Army camouflage at the time of arrest, confessed they were dismissed soldiers.

He noted that, “in the recent times in Owerri and its environs, criminals have been using military camouflage while robbing or kidnapping unsuspecting members of the public”.

Adding that Investigation is still in progress.

Cp Akinmyede, therefore urged members of the public to partner with the police by giving useful information aimed at assisting them nip violent crimes in the bud, he further appealed to “Ndi Imo” to kindly adhere to all the government rules and directives on Covid-19 Pandemic which includes social distancing, restrictions and personal hygiene procedures, adding that, the command is all out to enforce the directive to the latter.
