How bad tyres nearly claimed lives in Anambra crash

Two persons narrowly escaped death in a motor accident very close to the Government House in Awka, Anambra State.

The accident which occurred around 6.45pm involved a truck with registration number NSH146XJ.

The truck reportedly crashed into a gutter very close to the Government House as a result of stiff tyres.

An eye witness said the driver’s of the truck lost control of the vehicle as a result of stiff tyres, preventing it from moving while on motion (Mechanical Deficiency Vehicle).

Confirming the crash, Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo said no death nor injury was recorded.

He said, “Two male adults where involved in the crash. No injury and no death recorded. The truck was eventually towed to safety.

“The Sector Commander FRSC, Andrew Kumapayi reiterates the importance of ensuring that vehicles, especially articulated vehicles are checked and serviced regularly by their owners and drivers, before embarking on any trip.

“All vehicles plying the highway must be roadworthy, in order to forestall any form of brake down and avoidable road traffic crashes.”
