A motorcyclist was on Sunday crushed to death by a speeding truck driver along Nteje-Awka expressway, Anambra State.
The crash which occurred around 10:45am involved the motorcycle and a hit and run tipper.
An eye witness said the tipper driver drove against traffic and rammed into the motorcycle. He said he took to his hills.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi attributed the cause of the crash to Route Violation.
He sympathized with the deceased family, warning motoring public to desist from Route violations or face legal action.
He said, “A fatal Road traffic crash occurred at 150M after Tempo Umunya by Nteje-Awka Expressway, today 26th December, 2021 at about 10:45hrs.
“The crash involved two vehicles, a motorcycle and a hit and run tipper. An identified driver of a Supercub bike (private) with registration number: UWN214QC. Driver’s Name: Abu Salihu. And a tipper that the information was not gotten.
“The probable cause of the fatal crash was attributed to Route Violation. Two male adults were involved in the crash. One male adult lost his life.
“The driver of the motorcycle was rushed to Chira hospital, Awkuzu where he was confirmed dead by the the doctor on duty, and and his corpse deposited at the hospital morgue.
“The FRSC rescue team on ground managed traffic and ensured obstuction caused was cleared.”
