High life Igbo Musician ‘Morocco’ Maduka is dead

Legendary Highlife Musician, Prince Morocco Maduka Is Dead—Veteran igbo singer, Chief Emeka Maduka, popularly known as the Ekpili music crooner AKA Morocco Maduka from Anambra state has passed away.

His death was confirmed by the leader of Performing Musician Association of Nigeria (PMAN) in Anambra state, Ike Mazeli in a statement on Thursday, October 29th.

Hon Mazeli said, “With heavy heart of sorrow, we, the entire Anambra State PMAN, announce the exit of a music legend, Dr Prince Morocco Maduka, Ozonweluibe. He passed on this afternoon, Thursday, October 29th, 2020. All other arrangements as regards his burial will be communicated to all of us later.”

Morocco, famously known as the Ekpili music crooner, celebrated his 60 years’ anniversary on stage on October 23rd and 24th, 2020, in Awka. He was famous with the Ekpili music genre and his followership cuts across the world, including United States of America, Europe and Asia.

Some of his top songs are Ojemba Enwe Ilo, Echi di ime, Amara onye bu onye, Enenebe Ejeolu, Akalaka, South Africa Dynamic Friends Club, Egwu, Tribute to Oliver De Coque, Emeka Morgan, Mayo Port-Harcourt, Prince Morocco – Ubannesse Special, Money Palaver, Ugo Charu Acha Medley and Igbo Star. Chief Maduka hailed from Anambra State.

With Morocco’s death, the only surviving Igbo legendary and philosophical singer is Mike Ejeagha.
