Gunmen have killed a middle-aged woman in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The incident occurred at Our Lady’s bus-stop, along Old Onitsha/Awka/Enugu road around 9pm on Tuesday.
The gunmen, numbering about seven, stormed the area with two exotic cars and three motorcycles.
An eye witness who prefered anonymity said the hoodlums gunned down the deceased, suspected to be mentally unstable, while attempting to kidnap a driver.
He said the hoodlums had blocked the man’s car and was about to kidnap him when he suddenly scaled through the drainage with the car but was prevented from escaping by an electric pole.
“The man quickly jumped out of the car, abandoned it and fled while the gunmen shot at his direction and in the process shot a woman who was partially mentally deranged and she died instantly.”
Daily Vendor gathered that the corpse had been removed by the police in the area to a morque.
Contacted, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said the case was not reported to the command.
“There is no such report before me please,” he said.
