Suspected gunmen have kidnapped an official of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Popoola Olasupo, while on his way to his duty post alongside one other member of the corps.

Olasupo was reportedly kidnapped around 6.30 am on Sundayaround the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

It was gathered that policemen and some volunteers are currently on the trail of the gunmen.

A source said the gunmen, who emerged from the bush, opened fire on a commercial bus in which the official was travelling and he was the only one abducted.

Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesperson for TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) Abimbola Oyeyemi(SP) has confirmed the incident.

“Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them. We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.

“Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” Oyeyemi asserted.
