Group empowers 55 Anambra young entertainers, entrepreneurs with N2.7m

No fewer than 55 young entrepreneurs and entertainers in Anambra state have been empowered with N2.7million by the GSS Group of companies in support of their various businesses.

Making the presentation in Awka, the group’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Arc. Chukwudi Ezenwa said the gesture was part of activities to mark his birthday anniversary.

He disclosed that N2million was earmarked to support 20 young entrepreneurs while a cash palliative of N20,000 each was disbursed to 35 entertainers in the state capital.

The GSS boss disclosed that over 3000 persons applied for the grant on his social media handles where it was announced, noting that the applications were critically scrutinized to ensure transparency in the process.

He said the choice of entertainers for the cash palliative was informed by the untold hardships the entrepreneurs suffered while the COVID-19 pandemic lasted, resulting to the closure of some of their businesses.

He said, “We are not unaware that the entertainment sector suffered great blow from the pandemic that ensued early this year as social events were brought to a halt hence the need to support them.

“We didn’t just support the entertainers, we had a roundtable to discuss the future of Entertainment in Anambra state.

“We have a whole lot of great business ideas from young persons but unfortunately, there are no financial support.

“I’ve been through this hurdle and perfectly understand how funding can make or mar businesses hence my decision to support these young people. It gives me great joy watching young businesses thrive”.

While commending the young entrepreneurs, Ezenwa implored them not to be deterred in their business growth but focus on actualizing their vision and mission, just as he encouraged them to make good use of the grant in giving their businesses the needed boost.

He also called on government and wealthy individuals to lend support to the young entrepreneurs.

Among the dignitaries that graced the Grant awards were the MD, Anambra Drainage & Forest Preservation Agency, Chief Chido Obidiegwu; DG, Digital Entrepreneurship Office, Engr. Ifeanyi Aniagoh; MD Orpet Group, Mr. Chidi Nwakpadolu, the Legal Adviser of GSS Group, Barr. Anthony Agbasiere and the Vice Chairman, GSS Group, Mr. Ben Ezemma.
