Gov Sule urged to relocate College of Health Keffi to a conducive site

The Governor of Nasarawa State Engr Abdullah Sule has been admonished to relocate the School of Health Technology keffi from its present site to a more befitting place within Keffi.

The State House of Assembly committee on health made the appeal when during their visit to the School in continuation of their oversight responsibility .

The House Committee on Health plea comes on the heels of stakeholders view that the current location of the School is not conduceive for quality service delivery.

Chairman House committee on health Hon. Usman labaran Shafa who led members of the committee on oversight function to the college in keffi Tuesday said it is long overdue that the school is relocated.

The chairman of the committee and member representing Toto/Gadabuke who commended management of the college of health science and technology for living up to its responsibility despite the very obvious challenges saying government should relocate the college to a befitting site for optimal performance stressing that the present place is not good enough for the institution.

He also applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for assenting to the law passed by the state assembly that has finally upgraded the school to a college, saying the move would help the college to operate in line with international best practice and create room for more admissions with the long run goal of churning out qualified manpower in the health sector of the state.

According to him, since the school was upgraded, there is need for his Excellency Engineer Abdullahi Sule to relocate the college to a suitable site to accommodate new courses being introduces by the college.

Briefing the committee members on the successes and challenges of the college since its establishment over 20 years ago, sole Administrator of the college Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi Mohammed said the college has done very well over the years and would continue to consolidate on its achievements.

Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi Mohammed enumerated challenges facing the college to include inadequate space, vehicles and absent of governing council among others.

The sole Administrator also informed the committee that National Board for Technical Education NBTE has approved some courses and others are still awaiting approval just as
he called on the state government to decongest the college or relocate it to a suitable site to enable NBTE approve more courses for the college.

Alhaji Mohammed explained further that the college has signed MOU with federal medical centre keffi for it personnel to offer assistance on teaching.

Highlights of the oversight was inspection of the ongoing construction of child Development centre at the college by universal Basic Education Commission.
