Ganduje Deserves Dethronement, Banishment Not Sanusi – Activist

….Backs Falana’s position

A human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, has strongly condemned the dethronement and banishment of former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Emir of Kano Emirate, His Highness Muhammed Lamido Sanusi II by Kano State Governor, Mr. Abdullahi Ganduje, noting that Kano State governor action was abused of power and detest to constructive criticism.

The activist declared that Ganduje deserved to be sacked, dethroned and banished from the seat of power over alleged corruption as shown in a video clip where he was collecting kicked- back from a contractor, instead of Lamido Sanusi, an advocate of good governance.

He also backed the position of the  human rights Lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN on the dethronement and banishment of Sanusi, condemning the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami for attacking Falana on the subject matter.

He added that Falana was right to say that the Kano State Governor lacked power to sack Emir Sanusi without any concrete established criminal facts against Sanusi, saying that Falana was not misleading the public as Malami claimed in the media report.

In a signed statement by Comrade Sulaiman and copies were made available to newsmen on Wednesday, he urged Malami to always stand with the truth and justice on any matter of national importance and not the personal interest of an individual in government, insisting that no government or individual has right to banish any Nigeria citizen in the country and the supreme law of the land was absolutely clear on it, stressing that Sanusi’s fundamental human rights should be respected as stipulated in the amended 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Sulaiman who is Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), maintained that Ganduje arrogated the power that did belong to the State Government to himself, described the Kano State Governor action as unconstitutional, illegal, ungodly, satanic and uncalled for.

He saluted the uncommon courage of Emir Sanusi in this trying period, stressing that Sanusi was removed for saying the truth to Ganduje and Buhari on Nigeria peoples’ plight in respect of good governance, recalling that recently, Emir Sanusi has been critical of Nigeria government, Kano State government and northern establishment, especially,in the area of Almajiris/begging and women education.

He described Emir Sanusi as epitome of sincerity of purpose, transparency, justice, truth and good governance.

It will be recalled that the State government claimed to take the unlawful decision based on allegation that “The Emir of Kano is in total disrespect of lawful instructions from the office of the state governor and other lawful authorities, including his refusal to attend official meetings and programmes organised by the government without any justification which amounts to total insubordination. It is on record and in so many instances, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II has been found breaching part 3 section 13 (a-e) of the Kano State Emirate Law 2019 and which if left unchecked, will destroy the good and established image of the Kano Emirate”

Sulaiman therefore appealed to well meaning Nigerians at home and abroad to stand up against this illegal and dictatorial tendency of Kano State Governor nay President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that it was Emir Sanusi today and only God knows who will be the victim of this dictatorial government tomorrow.
