The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed its readiness to partner with Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC in the fight against drugs and Narcotics in Anambra State.
The State Commander, NDLEA Anambra State Commander of Narcotics Onyishi Daniel disclosed this during a courtesy call to the Sector Commander FRSC, Anambra state Command *Corps Commander Adeoye A Irelewuyi.
He informed the Sector Commander that his visit to FRSC Command was as a result of his New appointment as the State Commander NDLEA to familiarize and to seek FRSC collaboration to fight against drugs and Narcotics in the State.
He also assured that whenever NDLEA seeks for assistance from FRSC, it will be granted to them.
The Sector Commander Irelewuyi while welcoming the NDLEA Commander and his entourage to the Command, described the visit as a sign of good working relationship with FRSC and he looks forward to maintaining the synergy.
He briefed his guests on FRSC duties and responsibilities; namely reducing Road Traffic crashes on Nigeria roads, Public Enlightenement, enforcement, research, stakeholders collaboration, Drivers license through which the Corps mandate is achieved and traffic management in the state.
He also informed him of how the Command has helped in the past in apprehending human traffickers while discharging operational duties, assuring him of the Command’s further support.
He emphasised areas of collaboration between the two government bodies and appealed for assistance in testing drivers using drugs; just as he revealed that the Corps already has a test kit for motorists driving under the influence of alcohol but not drugs.
