Six persons, including four women were seriously injured in a serious road traffic crash in Umuokpu along Awka- Enugu old road, Anambra state.
The crash which occurred around 4.30pm on Saturday, involved a black M/Benz 4matic with registration number CALIFORNIA IZZW 445 and a Yellow Tricycle with registration number AWK 072 VO.
Eyewitnesses said the crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding leading to loss of control of the M/Benz Car and crashing into the tricycle.
Confirming the incident, Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kamal Musa said no life was lost.
He said, “Six adults were injured in a serious road traffic Crash involving a black M/Benz 4matic with registration number CALIFORNIA IZZW 445 and a Yellow Tricycle with registration number AWK 072 VO was recorded at about 1830hrs today Friday 25th September, 2020 at Umuokpu along Awka- Enugu old road.
“The crash also involved a total of Six (6) people ( 2)male adults and (4) female adults who sustained varying degrees of injury were rushed to the hospital by good Samaritans before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from the Sector Command. Road obstruction has been cleared and normal flow of traffic restored.
“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew Kumapayi wishes the injured victims an accelerated recovery and warns motorists to desist from excessive speeding and adhere to the speed limits stipulated by law as road traffic Crashes are avoidable.”
