Five Men Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Kidnapping in Ondo

An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced five men to life imprisonment for their involvement in kidnapping.

The convicts are Tosin Adenikinju, Abiodun Olabowale, Omoniyi Akinsoyinu, Olatuyi Igbekele and Daso Oluwasiji.

They were arrested by the men of the Ondo State Police Command for kidnapping a nurse, Mrs Unikiere Adodo, who works with Araromi-Obu Rubber Plantation.

The convicts kidnapped the nurse in 2015 in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

They were thereafter apprehended and arraigned before the court on two counts, bordering on conspiracy and kidnapping.

They had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice O.A. Odusola, held that the prosecution proved the case of conspiracy and kidnapping against the convicts beyond reasonable doubts.

The court sentenced each of them to seven years’ imprisonment on the first count; and life imprisonment on the second count.
