FG Works On Roads Connecting Nigeria To Other Countries

The Federal Government is currently working on roads connecting Nigeria to other nations of Africa as part of measures to boost Nigeria’s competitiveness in the African Continental Free Trade Area market.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, at the ongoing virtual workshop organised by the National Action Committee on the AfCFTA with focus on ‘Nigeria – the Transportation Hub for Africa.’

Babatunde Fashola, represented by the Director, Highway Planning, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Chukwunwike Uzo, stated that the work on the roads was part of the Federal Government’s efforts at improving road infrastructure.

The Minister said, “Roads connecting Nigeria to the rest of the continent are currently being worked on as Nigeria seeks to increase our interconnectivity across Africa.”

Stakeholders in the Nigerian transportation sector who were participants in the workshop noted that a good working transportation system as a key element that would guarantee the competitiveness of the Nigerian private sector for trade in goods in the AfCFTA market.
