FG Launches Treasury Portal To Fight Corruption

The Federal Government has launched the Open Treasury Portal in Abuja, Monday, 9th December, 2019.


The Treasury Portal contains a wide range of market data for foreign exchange, commodity and money markets. It offers a full range of worldwide hedging, borrowing and lending quotes.


President Muhammadu Buhari ably represented by the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, buttressed that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies are mandated to publish on daily basis reports of payment in excess of N5 million and over monthly budget performance and sundry other financial dealings.


The initiative was aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in government, as well as curbing corruption in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of government.


Alasoadura disclosed that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation has been mandated to issue a daily treasury statement of government’s transactions (Inflows and Outflows) in conformity with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).


All reports are to be published on this portal: http://opentreasury.gov.ng.


The event was attended by top government officials who include: Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Mongonu and a host of other dignitaries.
