FG keeps sealed lips over Pantami’s alleged past link with terrorist groups

The Federal Government on Wednesday refused to discuss the issue of the reported past link of the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, with the Taliban and the Al-Qaeda terrorist sects during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister of Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed after the meeting said that the issue was not raised at the meeting.

Mohammed said: “I’m not going to go into the issue of whether government is comfortable or not. I will answer your questioned directly. It was not discussed at the council meeting.”

Embattled Pantami according to Lai Mohammed was one of the ministers who attended the council meeting virtually from their various offices in Abuja

He had been embroiled in controversy over his past comments endorsing both terrorists’ organisations, though he had renounced the views.

Meanwhile, the demand by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, for the sack or resignation of the minister for once backing activities of Jihadist leaders and deadly Islamic sects, was yesterday blocked by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
