Femi Fani-Kayode takes responsibility for Imo hawker-singer’s educational pursuit

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has reiterated his intention to be responsible for the school fees of the Mbaise-born nine-year-old Imo wiz kid singer, Master Joseph Oluomachi Opara up to university level.

Fani-Kayode said Nigerians must ensure that his gift and talent did not go to waste as his songs touched lives as well as brought inspiration and hope to millions.

He said, “After much ado we finally found the handsome young boy from Owerri who sings like an angel and I have honoured my pledge.

“He touched my life with his songs of praise and he inspired and brought hope to millions. May God continue to be with him and use him.

“I call on all other prominent personalities and public figures that have made a similar pledge to him to please honor them and I reiterate my intention to be responsible for his school fees from now until he finishes University. We must ensure that his gift and talent does not go to waste.”

The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma had earlier promised to sponsor Opara from primary school to Catholic priesthood after attracting commendations from the public after making waves in the internet with the video of his catholic hymn songs.

The ex-Minister, popularly called FFK by keeping to his promise has assured that the era of street hawking or selling of food items by the side of the road for the boy was over, while pledging to also send him an allowance every month.

Describing his golden voice as gift from God, FFK maintained that his obvious love and passion for the Lord has certainly made a way for him, expressing confidence that his life would never be the same again.

“I am so proud of this young man who is doing such a great work and who has said he wants to be a priest. I am proud of his parents too who have weathered every storm, remained steadfast in their faith and trusted the Lord regardless of the challenging circumstances that they have faced and still face.

“God is truly faithful and He honors and provides for His own. The case of this blessed and gifted boy and his wonderful family bears testimony to that! I am so excited and happy for them. To God alone be the glory,” he added.
