ANAMBRA, Awka

First City Monument Bank, FCMB, has donated eight hundred and fifty bags of rice to Anambra State government as part of their palliative to support the State government.

The donation was made by the officials of the bank who made available 850 packs of five kilogramme bags of rice to the state government at the Government House Awka, through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu.

Speaking shortly after handing over the supply, one of the Branch Manager of the FCMB in Awka Mr. Victor Agumadu said the donation was to support the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in cushioning the effects of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID 19 outbreak.

He advised Anambra residents to continue to adhere to preventive measures against the disease including social distancing, regular hand washing, use of face masks, among others, in order to be safe.

Receiving the items on behalf of the State government, the Secretary
to the State Government, Professor Chukwulobelu thanked the officials and assured that all items received from good spirited individuals and corporate bodies are being judiciously managed, adding that some households in the state are yet to benefit from the palliative materials, as Governor Willie Obiano has already approved the distribution of some of the items to fifty indigent households that are properly registered under the state Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Professor Chukwulobelu called on individuals and corporate bodies that
still want to make donations do so, as the government still needs items to distribute to indigent persons in the state.
