In continuation of the onslaught against criminals in Nasarawa State, police personnel attached to New Karu Division while on intensive surveillance patrol on Saturday at about 1.30pm, arrested thirty two year old Nasiru Ahmed who is alleged to be an impostor, notorious criminal and serial fraudster.
The news of the arrest was contained in a press release signed by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Ramhan Nansel (ASP)
The PPRO said that the suspect usually dresses in full military camouflage uniform of the Nigeria Navy then, approached Point Of Sale (P.O.S) operators at different locations within Karu Local Government Area of the state, under the guise of conducting transactions and send in fake bank alerts into their mobile phones in lieu of cash.
Nansel said further that the suspect in most cases intimidate, harass and assault the P.O.S operators whenever they complain about the money given to him not reflecting in their bank accounts.
He pointed out that a thorough search of the suspect’s house was conducted and the following exhibits were recovered: Two sets of Navy uniforms, two sets of boots, one set of knee guard and one dagger which he admitted were used for his nefarious activities.
Meanwhile, The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe(AIG) has directed that, the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,(SCID) Lafia for further investigation.
