Former Real Madrid star, Rafael van der Vaart has hit out at Barcelona over their treatment of Frenkie de Jong.
De Jong’s future at Barcelona is currently uncertain after the club reportedly wrote to him last month, telling him they want to cancel his contract and revert back to the one he signed in 2019.
Barcelona claimed that De Jong’s current deal given to him by the club’s previous board involved ‘criminality’.
However, Van der Vaart is not happy with the way his fellow countryman is being treated by Barcelona and has compared Barca’s conduct to that of ‘a mafia’, adding that the Catalan club should be ‘punished’ for their actions.
