Ahead the 2021 Egi Peoples Assembly (EPA) election, Elder John Akogu has appealed for the support of the Egi Joint-CDC.
Elder John, the Akabta born astute administrator made this appeal while playing host to the leadership of Egi Joint-CDC with their chairmen and secretaries in attendance.
The presidential aspirant for Egi People’s Assembly President thanked his guests for honoring his invitation.
Elder John expressed worry that Egi clan is lagging behind and lacked the quality leadership to give sense of direction to the people not minding the fact that the clan is blessed with many intellectuals.
He said that he is fully equipped in all ramifications and ready to lead Egi people to the Promised Land.
“I am someone who likes accountability, I will always account for whatever resources that comes to Egi people under my leadership if given the opportunity to serve. I will account for every pin.
“I will be prudent in the management of the resources of Egi land, as a teacher, it has become my way of life to be prudent in everything I have been doing at both private and public sectors because teachers are trained not to live extravagant lifestyle rather to make do with what is readily available.” Elder Akogu John said.
Elder John also promised to ensure that education is readily available to the youths by giving them access the scholarship programs of Total without stress and other scholarship opportunities for overseas studies.
He told his guests that he will be truthful in all his dealings as the president of Egi land even as he said emphatically that his administration would be hinged on the fear of God.
“Government is totally unaware and unconcerned about Egi people, in my watch as the president; we will tell the government and other agencies the position of Egi clan. We will also take our pride of place in the economy of the state and nation at large. We won’t abandon our people and start chasing shadows.” Elder John concluded.
In their respective response, the CDC chairmen of Akabuka and Erema commended Elder Akogu John and promised to support him in his aspiration to lead Egi.
The duo however urged the aspirant not to deviate from his promises after getting to office so as not to make his followers look like fools at the end of the day.
They restated their commitment to the development of Egiland so as to fight poverty to a standstill in the clan.
Comr Ikechukwu Sam, the CDC chairman of Akabuka community in his speech identified leadership problem as the major challenge confronting Egi people, noting that the so called leaders of the clan have failed the people.
He said that the next election present a unique opportunity to make things right.
The CDC secretaries of Akabuka community and Oboburu said the personality and speech of the aspirant presented the way forward for the people.
Elder Erenest Odoyi pointed out he is quite aware of the distinguished personality of Elder Akogu John as a student and as teacher stressing that he has been a principled person who cannot be bent to jeopardize a course on the account of selfish interest.
Also, the chairmen of Egita CDC and Egi Joint-CDC said that they are prepared to support a credible candidate and not ready to swayed by side talks from the so-called Ogas who do not actually mean well for Egi land.
Comr Morrison Japheth expressed disappointed that the government has totally neglected Egi people and marginalized the clan because there are no leaders who will speak for them.
He however called on the chairmen and secretaries of various communities to be steadfast in their commitment to the growth and development of the Egiland.
Comr Japhet said further that the chairmen and secretaries have unique opportunity to turn things around for good in Egiland.
He also thanked their host and promised to support him provided he will not deviate from his campaign promises.
