Enugu IPOB Killings: Ugwuanyi Summons Emergency Security Meeting

Following the recent violence and killings in Emene, Enugu which led to breakdown of law and order, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has summoned an emergency State Security Council meeting.

The meeting, according to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, will hold on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at the Executive Council Chambers, Lion Building, Government House, Enugu, and scheduled for 2pm.

The statement added that “all security agencies in the state are expected to brief His Excellency, the Governor, fully, on the immediate and remote causes of the clashes, as well as advance measures to avert such occurrences in the future.”

It would be recalled that am attempt by the DSS to stop members of IPOB from holding a meeting in Emene resulted in heavy shooting security agents during which several lives were lost.

The Emene shootings on Sunday prompted Gov. Ugwuanyi to visit the scene, where he was assured that normalcy had returned.
