EndSARS: LG Chairman saved burning of Secretariat, 4 cars burnt, police post burnt, ATM machine destroyed in Enugu

Suspected hoodlums attacked the Enugu North Local Government Secretarial, vandalised and burnt some offices on the premises.

It was gathered that four vehicles were set ablaze on Wednesday night inside the Enugu North Local Government Secretarial in the continuation of the EnDSARS protest.

The pavilion was also affected just as the protesters carted away palliatives which were packed in the premises awaiting distribution to the masses.

The intervention of the Council chairmen Emekal Onunze who was clearing the roadblocks for easy vehicular movement ensured that the Secretariat was not set ablaze.

An eye witness told newsmen that majority of those who stormed the Council headquarters were total strangers who must have been hired from outside the state.

“The chairman was clearing the roads with some youths from the Local Government when news of the attack got to him.

“They all rushed to the scene and were able to convince and stop them from further damages.”

Our source said from his observation of what transpired at the Council headquarters it was clear that the protesters have been infiltrated.

“Those were not EndSARS protesters; the protest has definitely been hijacked and this is bad.”

Another attack also occurred at Enugu South and It was also gathered that a police post at Maryland was also vandalized on Wednesday night beyond recognition by the rampaging demonstrators.
