#EndSARS: Lagos begins Orderly room trial of erring Police Officers

Orderly room trial of four erring officers of the Nigeria Police Force from Area C Command of the Lagos State Police Command, who shot at peaceful protesters in the Surulere area of the state has commenced

The four officers are; Inspector Bagou Michael, Inspector Ekpoudom Etop, Sergeant Nnamdi Majura, and Sergeant Akinyemi Benson.

According to reports available to The DAILY VENDOR, action of the police officers led to the death of a 55-year-old man, Mr. Ikechukwu Iloamauzor.

Protesters numbering over a million on Friday night held a candle light procession for the deceased victim and scores of others killed by ruthless operatives of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.

Reacting to the incident on Saturday, the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the death of Iloamauzor and others called for “very sober reflections”.

“I have seen powerful images and videos of the #CandleForSARSVictims vigils held across the country. It calls for very sober reflections.

Yesterday, the orderly room trial of the police officers involved in the Surulere incident began.

“Some of the victims attended and will testify before the panel next week. Justice will be served. Thank you to the team actively following up and helping victims.

“There is so much more to be done and I will keep sharing the actions we are taking in line with my announcements,” the governor tweeted.

EndSARS protests have held Nigeria’s major cities on standstill for about a week now, with youths demanding an end to police brutality and extrajudicial killings.
