EndSARS: Enugu State Police arrest 23 Suspected Hoodlums

The Enugu State Police Command said it lost two police officers, who were allegedly murdered by hoodlums during the violence that trailed the peaceful #EndSARS protest in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmad Abdurrahman, disclosed this on Wednesday, to newsmen while parading before them, 23 suspects arrested for their alleged roles in the violence.

Abdurrahman also mentioned that the command recovered a bag containing 36 mobile phones, some materials suspected to be charms, N26,175 cash,13 matchetes and an iron with the shape of a gun from the suspects.

He said the suspects were arrested in different parts of Enugu metropolis during the protest.

“They were arrested for alleged riotous acts, murder, arson, armed robbery, malicious damage, stealing, obstruction and breach of public peace, amongst other violent crimes”,he said.

He accused the hoodlums of causing havoc of unimaginable proportion, by destroying public and private facilities within the metropolis.He also alleged that police stations were also burnt down by the hoodlums.

He,however regretted the fact that the protests which started out to be peaceful were hijacked and turned violent.
