The Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu has been abducted by unknown gunmen at his Kajuru palace in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Sunday July 11.
The Kaduna state Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Emir, while disclosing that the Emir was abducted alongside ten other persons.
The Daily Vendor gathered that gunmen also kidnapped a clinical psychologist and her three children in Shika, near Zaria, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state on Saturday night.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Muhammed Jalige, who confirmed the abduction of the second class 85-year-old Emir said: “Yes, it is true. The Emir was abducted alongside 10 other persons.”
Jalige added that a manhunt by police operatives and other security agencies has already been launched to rescue the Emir and others unhurt.
A source close to the Emir had told journalists that the gunmen stormed the Emir’s residence around 12:00am on Sunday shooting sporadically.
The source added that the gunmen whisked away 12 other persons, including family members, women, children and aides of the Emir.
Another source, however said that three women, two of the Emir’s grand children, three of his aides were among those kidnapped. The source further said that just a day before the incident, the Emir summoned a security meeting about a potential ploy to kidnap him but unfortunately no action was taken by the authorities to prevent the attack.
The Kajuru Emirate is about 30 minutes away from Kaduna town.
Meanwhile, gunmen were said to have attacked Milgoma near Shika, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state, where they kidnapped a clinical psychologist, Mrs Jummai Suleiman, and her three children.
The gunmen broke the wall of Jummai’s residence around 9:00pm on Saturday to gain access into the house, before abducting the department of psychiatry, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital staff and her children, Abdullateef who is 10 years, six-year-old Amina, and four-old Abdulrahman.
