PAKISTAN: Emarat-e-Islami led border authorities had briefly closed the Torkham border due to a huge influx of Afghan nationals who wanted to enter Pakistan via Torkham border, sources said on Thursday.
The sources said that Afghan Taliban on Thursday morning closed the main enterance between Pakistan and Afghanistan where they parked a container truck at Zero point on the Afghanistan border and suspened all kinds of movment.
According to Taliban iban officials, the border was closed to control the Afgan citizens coming to Pakistan. They said no one would be allowed to create chaos and trouble for both the boder authorities.
However, the Torkham border was reopened after a brief closure and allowed pedastrians and trucks to cross the border from and Afghanistan.
It may be mentioned here that only patients are allowed to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan these days, while Afghan citizens residing in Pakistan can return to their country via Torkham border.
Meanwhile, Emarat-e-Islami in their social media account alleged that Pakistani border authorities at Torkham crossing point take US dollars 350 from each Afghan and let them enter into Pakistan.
The Taliban asked Pakistan that either the border must be completely closed or it should be opened for all. It said in the social media that it was not acceptable for them to allow Afghans to travel Pakistan after they pay illegal money. They said that insult of Afghan citizens was not acceptable to them.
However, Pakistani authorities denied the allgations and said that they highly repect Afghan citizens who legally travel to Pakistan. They said due to Corona pandemic restictions and SOPs only patients were allowed to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan for medical treatment. The border officials said that it was not decided yet if the border would be reopened for passengers travel from both sides of the border.
