Ekiti Cancels Interdenominational Service

Ekiti State Government has cancelled the customary interdenominational service usually held on the first working day of the year.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Information, Akin Omole on Monday. He explained that the service was cancelled as part of the efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Omole added that the government has made the use of face masks and physical distancing mandatory in the state.

The commissioner stressed the need for people in the state to adhere strictly to all laid down protocols to protect themselves from contracting the virus.

He also said the importance of “avoiding crowds, keeping rooms well ventilated and regular handwashing with soap and water as well as using alcohol-based hand sanitisers and coughing into a bent elbow or disposable tissue.”
