Eight escape death as commercial bus, cyclist collide in Anambra

One person was seriously injured on Friday while seven others escaped in a motor accident along Igboukwu-Uga road, Anambra state.

The accident which occurred around 7.20pm, involved a Volks Wagon Transporter with enlistment number HAL450XA, belonging to TRACAS and a Honda Cub Motorcycle without registration number.

The Sector Public Education Officer,
Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo confirmed the incident, attributing it to dangerous driving.

He said, “A serious Road Traffic Crash (RTC) involving a Volks Wagon Transporter with enlistment number HAL450XA, belonging to TRACAS and a Honda Cub Motorcycle without registration number, was recorded near the FRSC Unit Command at Igboukwu, along Igboukwu-Uga road, at about 7.20pm today Friday 17 July, 2020.

“A total of Eight victims (5 male adults and 3 female adults) were involved in the crash which was reportedly caused by Dangerous Driving.

“One male sustained some degree of injury. He was rushed to Union Hospital for quick medical attention, by FRSC rescue team from Igboukwu Unit Command. The vehicle and Motorcycle were taken to the FRSC Igboukwu Unit Command.

“The Sector Commander FRSC, Andrew Kumapayi strongly warns drivers against driving dangerously. He admonishes motorists to be tolerant on the road and drive defensively at all times, to avoid unnecessary road mishaps.”
