Ebonyi Politicians Unite In Abuja, Hail Gov Umahi’s Achievements

It was a rare reunion at Abuja where top politicians from Ebonyi state met in a get-together to review the state of affairs in the state.

Convened at the instance of Governor David Umahi the meeting cut across all political parties.

In attendance were past governors, member of the National Assembly from the state, Chieftains of other political parties, captains of industry and other indigenes of the state resident in Abuja.

At end, the stakeholders including Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the Senator Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba, stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party PDP and that of the All Progressives Congress APC praised the infrastructural turnaround of the state by the governor.

Speaking during the dinner, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim who is a former Senate President described Governor Umahi as an achiever and called for unity and support for his administration.

Senator Anyim Pius stated that the State Governor needs all the support he could get to continue with his laudable projects in the state.

Anyim who was the chairman of the occasion expressed happiness with the transformation going on in the state and called on the state Governor to always make out time and brief Ebonyi people on the state of the state.

On his part, the Senator Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba thanked the Governor for bringing Ebonyi people resident in Abuja together to brief them on the journey so far adding that such has enlightened the people the more on government policies and programmes in the state.

Senator Ogba who also advocated for unity of purpose among all the political divide in the state pointed out that any political distractions would hamper the infrastructural and economic development currently going on in the state.

He noted that the state Governor still has more than 2 years of his administration to complete his programs and policies in the state adding that political activities and aspiration should not play major role in the state now as such would bring distraction and hampers development.

He commended the Governor for the projects executed in his senatorial zone adding that the Nigercem road, the International Airport and the Nkalagu flyover among others when completed would boast the economic activities in the area.

On his part, the member Representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Hon Sylvester Ogbaga expressed happiness with the laudable projects of the state Governor adding that the state has been transformed beyond measure.

He noted that the state Governor has surpassed his campaign promises and called for continued peace and Unity in the state.

Speaking Chief David Umahi assured the people that he would not leave any project uncompleted and called for unity and support to enable him accomplish his promises to the people of the state.

Governor Umahi stated that in the last five years of his administration, there has been concerted effort to transform the state to one of the fastest growing state in the country adding that today Ebonyi State is one of the state to reckon with both in infrastructural development and human capital development.

Governor Umahi further explained that the ongoing International Airport, the dualization of the Abakaliki/Enugu Federal road, the Abakaliki/Afikpo Federal Road, the State Olympic Stadium, the State International mall and the ongoing construction of flyovers in the state still remain on course.

Governor Umahi who also harped on the need for citizens of the state to take advantage of government created conducive environment for investors urged them to come back home and invest in the state adding that the state has enacted a law to protect investors from future government policies.

He also expressed belief and confidence that only God would choose someone that would govern the state after his administration pointing out that he would not be a part to imposing anyone on the people of the state.

Some of the dignitaries who were at the parley includes, former governor Dr. Sam Egwu, members of the National Assembly, the Chairman Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission, Chief Elias Mbam, Senator Julius Ucha, Dr. Steve Egbo, Chief Elechi Elechi, among other stakeholders of the APC in the state.
