Ebonyi Cult Clash: 4 Killed As Govt Inaugurates Vigilante Group

Following recent cult clashes that erupted in Onueke Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State which claimed 4 lives, the State Commissioner for Internal Security, Boarder Peace and Conflict Resolution- Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha yesterday inaugurated local government vigilante group.

Inaugurating the group, Hon Emegha said that the inauguration became imperative following cult activities which has been on the increase in recent times in the area.

The Commissioner charged members of the group to live up to expectations and take their job seriously adding that the state would not tolerate further cult clashes in the local government area or any other part of the state.

He expressed regret that people still indulge in activities that could be described as barbaric and noted that members of the group would be held responsible for any further threat to security of lives and property in the area.

He urged them to assist security agents in the state to fish out those who caused security breach in Onueke recently for arrest and prosecution.

Speaking also the Special Assistant to the governor on Internal Security and Utility, Hon. Onyekachi Nwoba sensitized the people of Ezza South Local Government Area on the dangers of cultism and the need for members of different cult gangs to denounce their memberships.

He also reiterated his commitment to wipe out all criminal elements in Ebonyi Central Zone adding that the resurgence of cultism menace in Ezza South which had obviously challenged the new Chairman of Ezza South just few days in office is worrisome.

He however assured that the activities of cultism would soon become a thing of the past adding that anyone caught in the act of disturbances and threat to lives and properties would be severely dealt with.
