Ease of lockdown: Why FCT banks experienced rush

With the ease of lockdown in Abuja yesterday banks were flooded with many customers who had issue of seizure of their ATM cards during the period of the lockdown.

This situation was aggravated by the fact that all the banks did not open all their branches in Abuja to customers

THE DAILY VENDOR correspondent who monitored the development said at the Access Bank Branch in Karu close to A.A. Rano filling station the crowd was so much that there was no observance of Social distance.

Many of the customers claim they came from neighbouring Nasarawa State which share boundary with Abuja at Nyanya checking point.

According to one Agnes Ikechukwu a branch of the bank at Marharaba which is about 5klm to the Federal Capital territory is under lock and key and they are being referred to Karu within Abuja Municipal Area Council.

In the same vein the traffic situation from Karu to the city was very chaotic same as  Nyanya to the city.

Despite the directive by the FCT minister banning those from negbouring states not having anything to do coming into the city, there was heavy traffic of vehicles passing through Aso C , Gwagwalape enroute Nyanya to the city thereby bypassing the security checks at the city gate.

The situation has made the PTF to raise alarm that there could be another wave of lockdown if there is a an increase in new cases of COVID 19.
