A driver lost his life in a fatal accident on Tuesday along Awka-Enugu expressway in Anambra State.
The crash which occurred 6pm before Amawbia bridge involved two vehicles, a black Nissan Pathfinder (private) with registration number: EPE285EP and a white/blue Howo Trailer with no registration number.
According to an eyewitness report, the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was on high speed when he lost control and cashed after ramming into the trailer.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi attributed cause of the crash to excessive speed.
He commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victim quick recovery, just as he warned motoring public to desist from speed and drive within speculated speed limits.
He said, “A Fatal Road traffic crash Occurred before Amawbia bridge inward Enugu Section of the Express by Awka-Enugu Expressway today, 4th January, 2021 at about 18:15hrs.
“The crash was between two vehicles.
“An unidentified driver of a black Nissan Pathfinder (private) with registration number: EPE285EP. and an unidentified driver of a white/blue Howo Trailer with no registration number.
“Three male adults were involved in the crash one male adult (driver of the Nissan Pathfinder) was killed, one male adult (passenger of the Nissan Pathfinder) was injured while one male adult (driver of the trailer) was rescued unhurt.
“The injured victims were rushed to AMAKU Hospital Awka where 1 male adult was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“The FRSC rescue team on ground managed traffic and ensured obstuction caused was cleared.”
