Driver escapes as ISWAP abducts five Borno govt officials

Terrorists identified as Islamic State in West Africa Province ISWAP, have kidnapped at least five officials of the Borno State government, who where supervising constructions.

The government officials were said to be supervising the construction of Chibok-Damboa road on Wednesday when the terrorists attacked and forcefully whisked then away.

According to a report by Daily Trust, one of the abducted staff, a driver, escaped unhurt.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the incident, which occurred near Wovi, a remote village in Chibok Local Government Area, has created tension among other state officials.

A senior government official who craved anonymity confirmed the incident.

“Yes, it is so sad and we are worried about these latest developments.

“The abductions came as a shocker to us. I can confirm to you that they were abducted this morning,” he said.
