Driver bags 6months jail for driving against traffic in Anambra

Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Awka, Anambra State has sentenced a traffic offender, Okoli Emenike to six months imprisonment over Route Violation (RTV) and Dangerous Driving (DGD).

Okoli was apprehended by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC on August 1, 2021 for driving his blue Mercedes Benz ML350 SUV car with registration number: EKY405FB against traffic.

The route violation offence consequently led to a head-on collision with a Toyota Corolla car opposite the FRSC State Sector Command office.

Magistrate Mike Anyadiegwu, while ruling on the matter, convicted the offender and sentenced him to 6 months imprisonment with option of ₦50,000.00
after being found guilty.

Reacting, Sector Commander, FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi condemned the act of Route Violations which had become a normal tradition in Anambra State.

He warned motorists in the State to desist from Route Violations, Dangerous Driving and all other traffic offences or face legal actions.
